drag radial slicks

i know this has been beat to death in other threads, but a friend of mine with a 69 camaro 9" bias, would it be better and quicker to go to 9" radial. 3300 lbs car, 2 speed. 292"

My M/T Radials of similar size are approximately .12 faster in the 1/4 and .08 faster in the 1/8th than their bias ply counterparts. I feel like there's a little bit of improvement in consistency in the radials as well. I use the radials about 95% of the time, even when bracket racing.

Re: drag radial slicks

There is no doubt radial slicks are faster than bias ply (I've heard not normally recommended for stick applications), but radials also tend to be less consistent on marginally prepared tracks. I run Hoosier radials all the time at IHRA national and divisional events with excellent results. But I do have some consistency issues at some local tracks where prep may not be a thorough and there are a lot of street cars.
I'm sure most other radial slicks will provide similar results. There are several "it depends" factors. But bias ply slicks will be more consistent over a broader spectrum of track conditions.

Randy,

I don't know about the others, but here is a link to what Hoosier has.

Looks like # 18140 is the closest bias ply slick. I don't know if someone would have that size in a radial slick unless you go with a DOT drag radial.
