Bart Graham

Gainesville Divisional: Bart Graham suffered an apparent heart attack in his pit area after first round of super street (he won) Saturday evening.
Ed and I were pitted next to Bart, but were not there when he was stricken. Here's some info from an eye witness.

" The Alachua County F.D. and Safety Safari were right there. I am a 33 year veteran Firefighter/Paramedic and I can say the job done by all medical workers I witnessed was fantastic and professional. The racer had no pulse and was not breathing, when they loaded him into the Rescue Unit he had a pulse. Enroute to Shands Hospital after cardioversion (shock) in the unit he became wake and alert! The statistics on this happening is normally very low, about 2%. Truly a miracle! -Jim Wahl"

Please post any updates on Bart's condition. He is a long time friend and fellow racer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bart and all of his family and friends during this stressful time.

Re: Bart Graham

Just got off the phone with RFC chaplan Phil Greene. He said that Bart is doing just fine (he did stress normally fine for Bart) and will be in Shands for observations and tests until Monday or Tuesday. He told me that Tom Ratliff was with him when he came to and realized he was in the hospital, and his first impression was that he had wrecked his car or something of that nature.

Please continue to keep Bart in your prayers and thoughts.

Hey Dan Moore, you're #1. :D

It is a miracle that this happened in a pit area at a race track, 100 feet away from an ALS team, not on the track, driving down the road, or even watching TV at home. Anywhere else he likely would have died. This is a great spot of good news and I'm wishing Bart a speedy recovery and no future problems. He's a fun and good racer to be around.

Re: Bart Graham

Just a quick follow up to Bart's condition. I arrived at Shand's Saturday evening after Bart's arrival at the hospital. He was alert and talking normally to his wife and myself. He recalled everything up to the moment he passed out. I thought that was a very good sign considering what he had just been through. I left the room and Tom Ratliff was waiting to see him. Last report is that he had a stint put in an artery to repair blockage. He is doing well and will be home in a few days after some rest and observation.

Thank's to everyone for their thoughts and prayers and I will let you all know if anything changes.
