Re: 1966 belair 427-390hp,transmison question.
In 1966 I think that the 427/390 Bel Air was 4 speed or turbo hydro trans only ----1966 Corvette 427/390 Powerglide was available--- Almost positive----Comp 387

Re: 1966 belair 427-390hp,transmison question.
FED 387 is correct. However, that dosen't necessarly mean that's how NHRA sees it.
For example, 1968 big car (Impala) with 275/327 came with a Turbo 400 but NHRA only recognizes that combo with a 2 speed. At least that was the case a few yearsa ago. But, 66 Bel Aire, wouldn't you be better off with a 3 speed? |
Re: 1966 belair 427-390hp,transmison question.
4-speed only for 425 hp

Re: 1966 belair 427-390hp,transmison question.
Danny, the 425HP would be 4-speed only but the 390HP was available with an automatic.

Hi Danny,
I'd like to, but the motor is out of my car and it's snowing like hell (am I allowed to say that?) here. |
