84 Camaro , Help with TORQUE ARM

Working on a buddies car, 84 camaro, putting a brake in it along with some other upgrades, I am not real familiar with the whole torque arm thing, I just noticed that it hooks to the tail shaft of the tranny, is there anything out there we can buy to move the arm off of the tranny? Again I haven't messed with these cars much at all so forgive me if I sound dumb. I would just think it would be hard on the tailshaft of the tranny. Suggestions please. Thanks

Eric, you can contact a number of companies for this application. The one I bought was from S&W racecars out of Pa. The fit was not as good as one would hope for a bolt on kit but overall a really good system. There are other setups from Pete Z. and thirdgen.com. I hope this helps narrow your search, good luck!!!! Eric, don't waste your time with the catalog stuff. I have broken it all with my 86 - 305 G/S.
Go with Pete Z - ATE Race Cars 315-483-6412. Talk to him about his anti-roll bar also.

Thanks for the input, Called Pete and he said he is way covered up and said that the BMR would be his next best choice, so that is the route we are taking. Thanks again!

i see BMR has two types...factory length or the shorter unit. camaro/firebird stockers must have to use the factory length unit and they work great. which one to use for a bracket car?

I have the S&W stuff on my bracket car now but had a short one on it with the plate that bolts up into the driveshaft tunnel before. I really did not see much difference other than weight and maybe a sight difference in how high it carrries the front end. Just make sure you check the bolts holding it to the rear on a regular basis no matter which one you choose and a little locktite is not a bad idea either. As far as legality in stocker dont they just have to bolt up to the rear end the same way? I thought you could use the aftermarket arms that dont hook to the tailshaft as S&W advertises them as legal. Can anybody confirm this as my rulebook is not with me at the moment.
