"Live" from Belle Rose
Well, actually we are still in the driveway, but I got a new laptop, so I thought I would try it out and make sure everything is working. We are still a few hours from leaving yet. It is amazing how much stuff you have to do to get everything ready to race for the first time each spring. I just know I am ready to get out of Kentucky. We have had the coldest winter in lots of years here, so I am ready for some warm weather. In checking out the weather, it looks like it is going to be great. A little cold on Sunday, but 60 & 70's otherwise. If anyone is already there, feel free to jump on here and give us updates.
More later. Patsy |

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
I heard from some of the guys at the track this morning. They say the grounds are in good shape with just a few damp spots. The air this morning was -100 feet with a barometer better than anything ever witnessed at Atco. Wow! Testing tomorrow.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Final stages of Drag Pak # 16. Hope to load and go park tonight. Media day tomorrow with sheriffs, da's, and other local politicians and media people racing charger hemi powered police cars. Then test the new car. Gotta find a class first. First Magnum powered Challenger, one of 3 to be made, one of one now. This is the nicest car I have ever had in my too-many-years-to-talk-about racing life. That can't be correct english.

Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
First off, I am a MoPar kind of guy...
Second off, my bracket car is a 1972 A Body with a transplanted 360 Magnum, sporting ten pounds of boost from a Vortech centrifugal supercharger. I said all that to say this: I support MoPars every way I can, and cheer when they win. But a Stock Eliminator car that is "ONE OF ONE" bothers me on several different levels. Guess I was a tech guy for too many years, back when NHRA was run as a racing organization, not a business. Maybe if NHRA would let me put a 340 in my '72 Valiant 4-door (they actually could be ordered that way in 1972, only) I might have a different opinion... being on the advantageous side of things like that has a way of skewing your perspective... and as much a fan as I am, and as admiring of a 360 Magnum "Stocker" in 2010, I still can't get comfortable with ANY Stock Eliminator car that is "one of one." I'll get over it... someday. Good luck to the Teutons and kudos to them for having the cajones to run a 360 wedge, when everybody else is playing it safe and building a Hemi! Way to go, guys!!! Schizoid??? Guess I am.... :( |
Re: "Live" from Belle Rose
Hope it flys, Jeff. What engine management system are you using? FAST?

The nice thing about 1 of 3 is that they won't have to worry about the odds of any of the dozens of other guys who might blow the index away with the more popular 6.1 Hemi's. But that's just my view of the situation. While occasional heads-up runs are fun, I doubt I'd be a front runner in any heads-up confrontations in a well populated class. (But that's for a different thread/debate.) |
