C-11 Cost?

My drum of c-11 that I bought in 2008 is almost empty so I called to get another, I was qouted almost double of what I paid for the last one. What are you guy's paying for a 54 gallon drum? Is there a better choice both HP and cost wise for my 8.0 compression stocker? When is NHRA going to realize we need a pump gas option?

Re: C-11 Cost?

Our option will be granted as soon as the major oil company's want to sponsor NHRA!
(Never).

You should look into Sunoco purple, it's about half of C-11. I paid $6.99 at a pump and took it to fuel check it passed with no problem.

X 2 on the Sunoco purple, NHRA would never allow pump gas due to sponsor and money

Page 68 and 69 of the NHRA Accepted Products List has all of the racing fuels listed. Sunoco Standard (purple) is there, along with VP C-11. Of course you'd have to bring your own drum!

Re: C-11 Cost?

Last week I dynoed c-11 vs. Sunoco Purple. C11 was 3 hp better on average. A drum of Sunoco is $325 and C11 is about $12 per gallon. About twice the price. My air fuel mixture was a little richer with the sunoco so maybe if I leaned it out a little it would have been as good as c-11.

Greg, Not to hijack the thred but was this seen with just a fuel swap? any other variables
or do you think that just the fuel alone made it a rich mixture if you dont mind me asking...
Thanks

Well that is at least $100 less than jobber cost here. I guess I'm getting the shaft. Pacific raceways has sunoco at the pump but I'm not sure what they have for options. I guess I'll be taking an empty drum with me next time I head down there.

P.S Hey Sean I figured out how to use the quote finally. Now I'm as cool as you.......
