So Much for 4 Wide
PRO TO NHRA: WE'RE NOT RACING 4-WIDE FOR POINTS ANYMORE
Written by CompetitionPlus Wednesday, 31 March 2010 20:35 PDF Print E-mail There’s a strong likelihood the NHRA and Bruton Smith’s experiment with four wide racing will be met with considerable resistance before next March. We have it on good authority the PRO board has informed the NHRA’s Tom Compton, Peter Clifford, Graham Light and Speedway Motorsports Inc.’s Bruton Smith of their objection to the format running in an NHRA Full Throttle points-earning basis. According to an unimpeachable source, 61 professional teams voted against the format, while two teams voted for it. Our sources have confirmed that PRO cited its objections on the basis of safety, confusion over the format, sponsorship identification and a circus-like atmosphere. PRO reportedly informed the NHRA that it is willing to discuss a future event under an all-star or exhibition basis, but has said their membership will not participate in the same kind of event as staged in 2010. |
Re: So Much for 4 Wide
However, the pros interviewed on TV pretended they ate it up. A little NHRA brown nosing there.
I wonder what Warren Johnson would have said if they interviewed him. He isn't afraid to say what he thinks. |
Re: So Much for 4 Wide

There are power in the numbers of classracers. This might work if evryone worked together. This forum is the way to start the process...Just do it?

Re: So Much for 4 Wide
WJ the problem is there was like 70 Pro's voting and there are 1200 stock racers. Much easier to get 70 people to agree. Why would the people that have the advantage of seriously underfactored HP rating want to support this?

Re: So Much for 4 Wide
NHRA would just say "see ya",and offer a buy back in Top Comp and Top Sportsman.

1) Racers who do this for a living would not support it or cant. 2) To not go to Div races would only hurt the local tracks, Would not want that. 3) Only a hand full of people can agree on one thing here. 4) Dont think NHRA gives a hoot,They have proved that. Positive thing 1) In this economy and poor car counts this is the prime time to make a statement !! |
