Open trailer , trailer and tire size suggestions?

I am looking at a new open aluminum trailer for those long distanceone way(600 plus mile) fun runs up and down the east coast and beyond. Anyone have experience/ advice on these:

I will be your standard 3500 lbs of stocker, gas, and other crap.

Featherlite 3110 17'6 comes with 3500 lb axles and the 5 lug 205-15's with a weight of 1400Lb.

Versus

Featherlite 20' with 4800 lb axles and 6 lug 225-15's with a weight of 1900.

Featherlite 3110 22' with 5200lb axles 8 lug 235-85-16 with a weight of 2100lbs.

Suggestions, thoughts?

Thanks

eric

Simple-16 inch wheels and the largest axles will keep problems with tires and axles to a minimum! There are much better tires available for 16" wheels.

If you can afford it go with the 22' with the 16" tires. That should be bulletproof.

Take it from a guy who hauls a house around the bigger axles and tires the better.

Good advice.

I got 6,000 axles and 235/16 Load Range E tires even though I figured my 26' Pace would barely break 10k fully loaded.

I also used 235/75-15 D tires with 3,500lb axles on my heavy open trailer before that.

The extra size and ratings mean extra life and durability - well worth it. I'd go with the 22' set-up too.

Also from personal experience, don't use Carlisle tires of any size. There have been plenty of threads on them in the past.
