Thermoquad advice

Testing my car with a 360/245 S/S motor this weekend, I could not sort out my carburetor. It would 60' fine, but then would start to surge really bad at the top of 1st and continue through the entire pass. I turned the fuel pressure up and it seemed to get better. I am running a Holley Blue with #8 to the regulator and #6 from the regulator to the carb. I started at 6psi, and ended up at 9 1/2. I have a feeling I need alot more volume. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions. The carb has been modified w/ no metering rods/ 66 holley jets on the primary. The engine is an index runner, it was dyno'd years ago at 507 hp. It ran 11.08 at 118 w/ a Holley during testing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Eddie Bolton

I run the T/Q with no rod and the holley jet, 77-80 and with a 143,149,154 rear jet with about 7 1/2-8 lbs of fuel pressure, maybe raise the float level as well.

disconnect the fuel line at the carb and see how many seconds it takes to pump a gallon into your jug.......if it takes more than 26 seconds , that blue pump has seen better days.....pressure and volume are 2 different things.

I dont think you will get enough fuel from the set up that you are currently using. I have 2 holley pumps, 2 #8 lines to the reg and a #8 to the carb. This would be the minimum that you would want to try. Pull your fuel line off the carb and run the pump for 30 seconds you should get a gallon of fuel in the jug. If not thats the problem

Thanks for all the info guys. My 10 year old Blue pump is a bit wore out, it only pumps 1/2 gallon in 26 seconds . I'm going to replace it w/ a Mallory 140 and bypass regulator with 1/2" line all the way to the carb.
Making other adjustments to the carb, as well as building a spare. Trying to make the race at Richmond this weekend. If I cant get it sorted out I'll have to bolt on the Quick Fuel 750 and run Hot Rod again.

Thanks again,
Eddie Bolton
