IHRA Nitrojam - Salt Lake City - Thanks

Congratulations to Brian Sanderson and Tom Albritton for your wins in Stock and Superstock. Despite the low car count, you guys truly have it together and will be great representatives for the west in TOC race.

I would like to thank Terry Hembree for the 1st round gift - his car was killer fast and consistent all week-end long. He only lost first round based on fluke. Who knew I could miss second gear and still win the race.

I would like to thank Tom Albritton for the "Mountain Secondary Metering Rods" and all of your help to make my car actually work "a little bit" in 7000 ft air. Sorry about the " Charlie Sheen" comment - I still think your shirt looked like a bowling shirt - with all the money you won maybe you get hire a wardrobe consultant! Next year I will make good on that rain check for lunch!

Finally, I would like to thank IHRA for bringing a second major event out west and taking the chance to build a division 6 in an NHRA dominated section of the country. I am confident that there will be a market for your programs out here once people who are not adverse to change realize that they can build competitive legal class cars with modern components for a fraction of the cost.

Case in point, I am in the process of building a crate motor engine for next season. Aluminum heads and intake, Holley 850 and roller rockers are complete. Bill so far $4500. Cheater cylinder heads and intake manifold for my current NHRA class car would be $8K minimum. Differential in horsepower - IHRA motor will make at least 35 HP more than the NHRA motor and will be completely legal.

Decide to quite racing or change classes - the modern aluminum IHRA legal parts actually have residual value to almost anyone building a drag car or killer street/strip car. The NHRA cheater parts are practically worthless unless you can find another stock eliminator racer that wants them - in the Buick world they are worthless.

If you are wanting to run a stock eliminator car, do not have a huge budget, want to be able to pull right through the gate at a national event with out grade points, put a boat load of runs on your car (I got 9 this past week-end) at a two-day national event and spend the week-end with a great group of racers and a sanctioning body that actually treats the lowest class like rock stars - check out setting your car up to run an IHRA crate motor class. Many of the IHRA No-Box and NHRA Pro ET cars are practically there already!

Aaron Polburn shoke my hand in the winner circle and said they are working with several more tracks out west to build a division six. Let's help IHRA get there and give us an alternative.

Thanks again for the great week-end!

Re: IHRA Nitrojam - Salt Lake City - Thanks

I would like to thank you and all the other guys that supported this event. It will only get better with time. This was the first time you guys had a chance to run at a Nitro Jam and I'm glad to hear it was a good experience. The best advertisement for IHRA is you guys telling your friends and your friends telling their friends. Thanks again for the support of IHRA and can't wait for Edmonton this weekend.
