Liscence Req for S/SS
Ok, I know how I got my license (a cracker jack box:)
But, barring going to one of the "Schools" what is the procedure, and what is needed for s/ss ? Say the car is going faster than 9.90 so they will need a card. Now I know they need the checkout passes under "the supervision of an NHRA official" is that done at div ? do they have licensing runs ? Like I said I went to Hawleys, and I got a SG license, but someone I know wants to drive a car, and well dont want to go school..... What is the process ? Without going to a school ? Assuming they have a car that will tech and run that fast. Or can borrow one. Thanks Chris |
Re: Liscence Req for S/SS
Get the proper forms from NHRA
Have a physical Go to a NHRA track make the runs. Have a track official and 2 license drivers sign off. You can be one of them providing you have the proper license. Chip |
Re: Liscence Req for S/SS
I'm pretty sure that you can print all the forms you need from www.nhra.com
The medical forms and the run forms should be there. |
Re: Liscence Req for S/SS
No need to go to school. Fill out the forms and find out from your local NHRA track if and when they're running license runs, usually they're on a TnT day.

Re: Liscence Req for S/SS
Drooze,
As long as the car runs under 10 seconds you will need a license. Just go down to a local track in your area on a bracket night or a test and tune night (pretty sure unless you hot lap the car, you won't get all 6 runs in in one trip....it took me 2 trips to get my license). You have to make 1 1/2 pass, 3 moderate passes and 2 full passes which have to be under 10 seconds. Have the track operator and 2 licensed drivers sign off on the forms and go get a physical from your local doctor. Send all the forms into your local director if you are cross-grading and all the new forms to California. Give it about 2-4 weeks and you will get your license in the mail. It last 2 years and just make sure when it's close to expiring you get the physical and paperwork filled out a month in advance...some tracks can be a-hole's if you let it expire and have not gotten your new license or sometimes your Division Director will send you a temp. license till the new one comes in. Good Luck! Rob K. |
