Hodges car carrier
 

Looking at a 18' Hodges car carrier for transporting my car to/from the track. I've gotten lots of stories about local and stste police pulling over this type of carrier looking for an unlicensed tow truck. I was told that NJ and PA local cops look at this as a way to make $ thru tickets. Supposedly the signage of " NOT FOR HIRE" does not work anymore. Any thoughts? hanks

No truth to any of that -- just be sure to have the truck licensed for the correct GVW and the Police will leave you be .Roy Hodges builds a great carrier - I've owned many over the years and can tell you first hand they are built right .Pictured below are some that I've had ..........

If you have the truck registered in your own name and have proof that you own what's obviously a race car, I can't see where you would ever have a problem.
Don't ever, EVER admit you are hauling something for someone else.

Best car carrier but don't forget to paint with Imron Paint the underside to stop any possibility of rust. My brother had one for 6yrs with no problem we added a Double Kenworth sleeper. Never had any problems with any jurisdiction in the U.S or Canada. The most important thing you must have with you is a DMV registration of the car you're carrying, doesn't matter what state, you must have a valid DMV registration, not a bill of sale. It's a Federal Offence to cross state lines without a registration. Claude

Another vote for the Hodges hauler, my dad used one back in the 80's to get his stocker around, never any issues.
