Do you have to run a factory dizzy or can you convert to a crank trigger set-up in stock with a carburetor car ?

Only if the engine came with a crank trigger

OK...that makes sense..

I was just curious.. I guess that also gives the EFI a bit of an advantage.. Anyone modify a dizzy for a hall effect pick-up?.

I have run the Mallory Unilite for YEARS.... and no problems, knock on wood. The Mallory unilite is the "hall effect" design. The biggest problem with them is the ground. DO NOT ground them to an aluminum intake or anything aluminum. The block and or the frame is the best ground possible. They are easy to lock out if that is your thing too.
