A new one on me!!

I haven't had a chance to post about our problems @ the Div. race this weekend because I'm still so excited about my son Austin's ability to overcome the mental problems that can attack you. He hadn't experienced what looked to be a total disaster.

We ran the Shelby at the Fun Ford Event @ Houston, then just left it in the trailer for the week prior to Rusk. When we arrived on Thurs., we went to unload the car. Well, first, it wouldn't roll out as usual, then we couldn't push it out!! After looking, I discovered that the driver's side rear leaf spring had broken in half, allowing the car to rest on the tire. After talking via cellphone to a couple of spring people in the area, and not getting a satifactory response to my problem, I called John Calvert. Although he was totally shocked that something like this could have happened, he jumped all over the problem. He had MY ORIGINAL INFO, asked me to take a couple of measurements (since I have 2 cars), then proceeded to make things happen, PERSONALLY!!!!! The only mistake they made was shipping the springs (overnight) to my house instead of the track. Luckily I was only 4 hrs. away. Again, luckily, my neighbor called saying that springs had been delivered to my house. He met me halfway, I got back and proceeded to completetly overhaul the suspension in the car WHILE IT WAS STILL IN THE TRAILER!! I thought that I could get it done in time for a "clean-up" run, which I did, but there were none. I was praying that I had it right for the first pass Sat. AM. Needless to say, everything turned out perfect. Austin did a great job.

I want to especially thank John Calvert, and all the other racers that came over to offer help in our time of need. THAT'S SPORTSMAN RACIN' !!!!!!!!!!
