Small versons of what you guys build and race.
Because I just cannot do what you all do. I build a much smaller version. I am a HUGE Stock and Superstock fan. (Also just about any Sportsman Doorslammer class, too) you guys are my "Kenny Bernsteins"," John Forces" and "Warren Johnsons".
So these are the cars I build. They are much more affordable and also. I can own just about any type of car I could ever want. I just cannot race them. But I can go to competitions in the way of a model car contest. So Thanks for letting me be on this board and get so many inspirations for me to do my art. Model Car Building. Hope you enjoy Matt http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...stocker011.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...stocker006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../75Duster5.jpg This Camaro is not finished http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...rolcamaro2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../modeldio7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...preshow006.jpg |

Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.

Joe, Danny (& others....)
Matt has other talent too! The man makes some BITCHIN model buiding parts parts too. some of the stuff (front wheels, gel cel batteries, MSD boxes, carbs......) are perfect for those of us that like to build replica stockers. Glad to see you on here Matt! Unk |
Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.
Is it possible to build my AMX if I supply the model?
It's the tangerine one in these pictures: http://classracer.com/classforum/album.php?albumid=68 How much? I'd want a back-half version as that's what is under construction right now. I have an NIB '69 AMX in 1/20 scale. I'd have to find a '70 AMX kit. Damn, knew I shouldn't have sold that ! |
Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.
Very nice, Matt. I too build models and I'm in an IPMS club. Your work is very nice and you should be very proud.

Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.
Hey Unk! Thanks!
Whadda think of that Jegs Firebird? I thought of you a few times when I was building it. Danny I am working on a 66 Chevy II Wagon and a 63 Deuce Wagon also. They are some work. I am converting a 66 2 door into the wagon (It will be a 4 door) and the 63 is being converted from a funky funny car model into a stocker. I have so many in the works. I never know what one will get finished next. Here are a couple more. Thanks guys. Glad you like them. I just LOVE 66 and 67 Deuces http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...daytona001.jpg Here is a car I really raced. It is a slot car and it was real drag racing for the most part. The track I raced this at closed down a long time ago. I never got past the testing with it. I built a chassis for this car that was out of the box to the other slot car race cars. I think that it would have worked too, if I would had gotten the time to work out all of the bugs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dels_021-1.jpg Here is some silly detail in a Willys bracket car I was building. No it never got finished. maybe one day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...LECTRONICS.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...CTRONICS_2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...llysdrag05.jpg I am telling you guys. I am not one of the great modelers out there. There are guy that are doing some really SICK stuff with model cars. Anyone out there that builds. Feel free to post on this thread. I do not mind at all. I do have a real car that i am building. A 71 Camaro. At one time I was wanting to build it to run in some sort of class or bracket race. But these days I just do not have the funds to race. This is it right now. But for now I will keep with my models. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...aro1208001.jpg Matt |

The problem with doing your car is how rare the kit is that would be needed. It is not impossible to do those. Using the 1/20th scale would not be a great option because there is nothing in 20th scale to use to make you car with a back half and the big slicks. So much custom work would need to be done. It would be cheaper to find the rare kits and parts in 1.25th scale. As for the Paint. That would not be hard to replicate in scale. I know someone that can do that and does do that level of painting on models. he paints the real thing as a living too. He is the painter at one of the top custom shops in the Valley. Just a little south of you. I could ask him. It would cost some bucks though. The hard part is the lettering. Not impossible, but will be some work. Allot of people do not realize the work that goes into making these models. So it can be quite costly to have a replica of your race cars done. Especially with the types of paint jobs you guys are putting on these cars these days. Matt www.denconresin.com |
Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.
Oh..I imagine it is not cheap! And I can not imagine doing this amount of detail to scale with lettering. So what would something like this cost, roughly?
I had a 1/25 '70 AMX that I sold for about $250 because I finally figured I would never get it built. And I haven't built a model in 35+ years and didn't want to butcher such a rare kit. This MPC 1/20th scale is NIB and probably worth just as much. But I would like a matching model some day. Just need a dollar figure to shoot for. And getting this done will be my reward when I set the SS/G record. Oops! Did I say that? |
Re: Small versons of what you guys build and race.
I like Matt cannot afford to race the real thing so i build the little ones too.
