Almost "Live" from Hagerstown,MD - S / SS Combo
3 Attachment(s)
Just because I couldn't race at this years edition of the Tri-State Stock / SuperStock Associations' race doesn't mean i'm not there in at least spirit and with a little help from some friends i'll give you at least some results .
Yesterday was like most Eastern cities - the weather was ugly - temps in the forties and overcast - and it made for a poor turnout of entrants with 34 coming in but 20 showed for first round .Even with the low car count the racing was terrific and close as you'll see from the stats . The winner - Larry Mohar driving his SS/HA - in the final he went a dead-on 9.93 after a nice .043 light . Runner-up -- Dan Fahey in his G/PS 96 Impala who went -.009 red and then 13.77 on his 13.96 dial . Semi - Bob Holstrum driving Don Fizels' SS/BA CobraJet . Today is a different story - Sunny and the temps are to be in the high fifties- Mike Carr tells me there are near fifty cars on the property with some still coming in -- i'll be back later with results . |

Just got home. Long weekend, but a lot of fun. 47 cars were there today, 44 raced. Wallace "Pie" Dent drove his C/SA '99 Camaro to the win over a red-lighting Andy Stone and his SS/C '69 Camaro. Steve Klacik H/PS '88 Mustang was the semifinalist. Full round by round results will be posted tomorrow.

Mohar pocketed $550 for his win, Fahey took home $250 in his street-legal big boat Chevy. Hallstrom earned $100, along with by far low ET and top speed of the weekend (at that point), and Ferrucci and Anderson received $50 for their efforts. Shelby Hurley drove her P/SA '55 Chevy to the win in the No-Elecronics Gamblers Race, a nice birthday present a day early. Eight cars that ran on Saturday, during the test and tune and/or combo race, broke and were unable to run, or were unable to return for Sunday. "Qualifying" (the ladder is set for round 2 based on winning round 1 reaction times) was tough. An .030 light got you 12th out of 22 cars and an .012 got you seventh. Three cars on Sunday had trouble and could not compete. Dan Henderson SS/FA '70 Challenger Gary Simper's Jr GT/GA '88 T-bird Harry Golliday SS/F '67 Camaro We had 55 total cars for the weeked. A little less than I expected, but still a great turnout, for the chilly weather, which I'm sure kept a few folks home. It was the biggest turnout ever for a Saturday here, and the second biggest turnout for both a total car count and a Sunday first round. I really want to thank everyone for coming out. I hope you had as much fun at it as we did. We will do it again next year, and probably also will be another $2,000 to win race, so I can have a whole year to hype it, instead of six weeks. See you all next year! Mike, Wendy and Gary Carr |

Re: Almost "Live" from Hagerstown,MD - S / SS Combo
I e-mailed Elmer today at Hagerstown, he's willing to do another guaranteed $2,000 to win race next year as well. So reserve the first weekend in November 2011 and we'll do it all over again.

Hey Mike,
Great race at Mason Dixon you always put on. I wasn't there this year but Danny Lattimore was there with my car and hopefully I'll be there next year with both cars. He's got the Olds flying. A big thanks for your efforts, Craig Couris |
