What Corvette Crash At Pomona?

Someone posted a crash of the Eddie Smith Vette at Pomona with drastic description of guard rail and roof action. Any truth to this story? Discussion of outcome? I had wondered who bought the car and its outcome/

Dick, I'm pretty sure it was Steve Kent driving the E/A Comp Car that Eddie Smith used to drive as a C/EA. I think it was/is a HAAS tube car, It was not a Super Stocker.

PS The Camaro is getting close, should be out next year.

Gary, GOOD NEWS. I want to see the car inperson. Good luck. Now if we could just keep enough cars for TOP/SS going again. It was Fun, It worked and finally enough cars are becoming available to make a field....

Dick,

I have the Smiths old Super Stock Corvette. If you look at Toby Lang's post from Pomona there is a current picture with my partially obscured mug in the photo. I missed eliminations after I overreved the engine in the last qualifier and was trying to play it safe and not kick the rods out of it. So just to make sure the weekend was a total bust my brother was driving my Monte Carlo and it decided to ventilate the oil pan with a connecting rod and oil the track in the first round. Sorry to all who had to wait while the carnage was removed. Just not a good weekend for the Broaddus Brothers!!

I felt so bad for you guys! But, at least, you have all winter to repair things!! ;-)

Re: What Corvette Crash At Pomona?

Bryan, Glad you guys have the car> It ran in our TOP/SS meet at Indy Open. We had a ball. Ray Paquet, Eddie, Tony Depillo, Both vettes of Wilkerson and Kenny Schindler, then Brian Oakes came and WON both TOP/SS and TOP/Stk. Now there are two other T-BOlts in the area to add with the NASH of A. H Adkins. Ollie Stephan even drove down for a meet.Paul Adams T BOlt is strong already and its getting time to consider it again on a local race basis if enough of the guys want it.
Wish a sponsor would POP up for this race with enough money to DRAW all the good cars at one time. THen this would be a pattern for the future.
Good Luck with the vette. I always wished I had been more active in trying to buy it....
