How to fix fishy coolant smell in a DP?
For all you DP owners, and DP fans and non fans here is my dilema.
I know that more than a few will be highly entertained by this tale of olafactory distress....some will find it fitting and just...Its like something crawled in there and died....And then came back and spawned... My DP's cooling system reeks of fish. Its horrendeous, I couldn't get the radiator drain valve to work on it so I ended up dumping around a gallon of this righteous stuff on my garage floor and fumigating the family and close to 17 year old super beagle Mr. Beasley. Burning of matches and air freshner sprays ensued, and many don't do that in the garage EVER again requests. I am guessing its simply because the rubber is relatively new....Anything anyone adds to their coolant system that takes this away? Antifreeze is going in this system once I get a bit more of this god awful stuff out....In the spring I will spend many a dime flushing the entire system out after the antifreeze is out. Thanks in advance. Eric |

Hey Eric.Have you noticed a rise in the amount of feral cats around your house lately?
Maybe flushing it with water and baking soda might help.Although I don't know if the baking soda might cause a problem with the hoses and water pump seal.Maybe someone on here knows. |

Push the car outside on a nice day, get a garden hose and hose all places you think antifreeze got in contact. You are smelling residual antifreeze. If it got on the garage floor scrub down with Lysol Cleaner or Pine-Sol with a broom and rinse. That should do it.
