Leaky Jerico trans

A question Mr. Reptile may have the answer for, but how do I get this thing to stop leaking. Oil comes out around the area the arrow is pointing to. (Not sure of the correct name) This isn't a shaft that turns but turning the input will get oil leaking around the edges here. It isn't coming from the bearing cover. I've tried putting a thin skim of sealer over it but the leak persists. I'm at the point I need a drain plug in my bellhousing as it's always got gear oil inside.. Suggestions??

They all leak. The two I have leak and everybody I know that has one they leak to. My son sprays the trans with brake clean before each run and wipes it off. We have tried alot of stuff with no success. Tom may have the answer. Ed

Ok you are my first post using the Jerico banner :)..Please dont knock the countershaft pin past flush on the other side. The shaft is ground bigger for the case the 1.005 is the diameter on that end the and the rest of the shaft is 1.000 diameter I am taking into consideration u have K-100 roller bearing in your cluster not packed needles. It appears u may be going past flush.Either you or send it to us can do this. Dont get it too hot take a little bit off the face of that shaft maybe .020 or .030 and seal it with Hylomar.Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply Tom... A bit more technical than I can wrap my head around at the moment but I've got somewhere to start.

And yes, almost everyones Jerico's leak. Seem to be fine when new but as soon as you take them apart it's drip city. Mine is good except for the front. I use The right Stuff and as mentioned RTV sucks.

I think Ferrea valves is now selling Hylomar, so most places that handle Ferrea should be able to get you some Hylomar. You see it at parts houses too, in the regular sealant section.

Hylomar is a product of Permatex Co. I know that the larger NAPA stores carry it also the O'Reilly parts chain has it---Stuff works great for head gaskets to--Follow the directions and it will work--They make a tube/brush on I think altho I have always used the AEROSOL kind---Stuff is not cheap about $15 or more for a small aerosol can but it is a great product---Patterson Engines uses it in most of their engines for a head gasket sealant---Comp
