New cars to remain in stock classes
I just got off the phone with a good friend who is at the PRI show and had talked to Bruce Bachelder about the new cars running in the traditional stock classes. Bruce told my friend that the new mustangs and challengers would remain in the regular stock classes and that the new AHFS would take care of any problems they caused.

Hi, Greg. I'm sure the ahfs will take care of the problem of the old racers not showing up. Keep the faith........Merry Christmas. Arnold

Re: New cars to remain in stock classes
It's going to take some ingenious methods of adding weight to make the new and eventual 6000 pound stockers continue to look like cars rather than tractor pullers.

Re: New cars to remain in stock classes
NHRA gave no indication they were going to anything else but leave them in Stock.

Re: New cars to remain in stock classes
Then they are all Idiots.......IHRA looks better all the time. At Least they have tried to put the new cars away from old tech cars in an effort to let everyone race.

Re: New cars to remain in stock classes
Bill;
I believe you are correct, maybe even 5.5 lb. I was talking to Bruce about this a while back and couldn't get a real answer but if NHRA intends to put the HP factors where they belong with the new factory race cars they will need to reconfigure the weight breaks or these cars will cycle out of the guide; probably not acceptable to Ford or Chrysler. I am convinced that there will be no FX class so this is the only solution IF (big if) the HP gets corrected. Time will tell. |
