Ed, I have also been watching and it amazes me how much money changes hands there.
I do believe the 58 Impala was a convertible.
When the top goes down the price goes up.
I have been to the BJ several times and it is almost the best car show I have ever been to.
I never did buy a car there but it is fun to watch the cars and bidders.
The Hershey Pa. swap meet and car show is probably my pick for best show.

Because they overinflate the true value of the cars.Then every a$$hole in the world who has the same car,irregardless of condition ,thinks he has a gold mine.That's why.
You said you feel for us NHRA racers who are getting hosed by the board,well how about the average,true car guy,who's getting indirectly hosed by these rich,drunk,stupid

As Ed said, everyone who sees BJ thinks their car is worth the same and you can't get close to buying anything for a decent price for months after BJ.

Mr Ed: I personally bought two cars years ago at a Barrett-Jackson auction. Way back before there "ringers" were in on the bidding and driving the prices of these cars to outrageous numbers. There were allegations of this, but I don't know if they ever proved it. I watched a friend of mine bid and pay for a Shelby GT 500 drop top, and I thought he was freakin' insane to pay what he paid for that car. But, you are correct, in that now because of these auctions that every Mom and Pop that has one sittin' in their barn thinks it's worth a fortune.
