Re: Pontiac Oil Ring Tension
I have a .040 455 Buick G/SA, I use a standard bore Expander with the .040 Rails to make my own low tension oil set. I buy a cheap cast ring set for the expander. I run a stock Moly 5/64 top ring, a Back cut 2nd ring ( appox. .070 removed I.D.) and the trick oil ring set(LOL). I also run a .060 350 K/SA that I tryed the Std. Expander in the .060 overbore an Oil control was a problem, Again 5/64 moly top ring, back cut 2nd an it was very low tension setup. Even with all the oil contamination the motor made good power it ran 1.17 under at the 2009 U.S. Nationals. I currently am freshing up the 350, I'm going to replace the std. Expander with a .020 over Expander for better oil control. JKeihn3954
