msd programmable ignition 7530T

does anyone have any experience plotting a timing retard curve for the launch? how much do you take out on the initial hit and for how long? too much power with too small a tire and a stick. thanks-Dan

Not sure how much you have to start with but I usually remove 15 degrees and put it back just before the 60 ft clocks. I have no experience with a stick and this feature but I would have loved this box back in Modified Elim days. Maybe one of the stick guys will chime in with a little better advice. TT

It's a powerful tool. Not a curve - straight line ramp. So if you have a car with 40 degrees timing and remove 10 degrees for 1 second your result is:

30* at launch
31* .1 after launch
32* .2 after launch
33* .3

and so on till 1 second out you are back to the 40.

Regarding how much, I suggest starting with 6 degrees for for you 60' time. Then you correlate results with your data logger shaft & g-meter to tune from there.

Give me a call if you need more info.

I've run the programmabIe ignition for years. I'd talk to Terry or one of the guys at MSD to tell you where to start! You can have them make a program you can down load to your computer or lap top. Pull out to much timing and the engine looses to much power!
