CJ C-2 transmissions
Are they available to buy outside of owning a CJ? thinking about a bracket car combo and want to keep it all Ford products no more powerglide.. not that it really matters..they're probably identical.. just thought it'd be cool to have one...

Re: CJ C-2 transmissions
It is a PG with a Ford bell. I designed the first 3 proto type converters for them. Ford front mounting cover, from there back all GM.

Thanks guys I figure that's what they were but couldn't find a pic like the one Mark posted. since I already have one makes it a lot easier to consider this project.

Re: CJ C-2 transmissions
Great information....
I went to my rulebook and in the Stock Eliminator, Drivetrain Section Transmissions, Automatic I found that "NHRA-accepted adapter plates permitted" and would possibly allow me to run a 904 Torqueflite behind my Pontiac engine. I went to the NHRA website to look in the Accepted Products section for an adapter for a Pontiac Engine to 904 Torqueflite transmission. There isn't a section in the Accepted Products identified as "NHRA-accepted adapter plates" Ther are no adapters listed so either all adapter plates are legal or no adapter plates are legal I guess that it might be located in the East Coast on-line version of the NHRA rulebook. Re: CJ C-2 transmissions
Whatever rule book, just run a Pro trans and you will have your 904.

Re: CJ C-2 transmissions
But the difference is that one of them is built in a stock 904 case and costs X amount of dollars and the other is a 904 built inside of a TH350 and it costs XXX dollars.
Neither is cheap but one them costs about 3 times as much as the other...for the same performance!!! Bob PS: I have no axe to grind with the Smith's...good people who build fast cars and transmissions...even raced against them in the same class 30 years ago..... |
