Front Coil Spring Life Expectancy?

I have heard that front coil springs should be changed (swapped out for new) every 3-4 seasons, others say they have used their springs for over ten years, and car still works well. Application is 12.50 second 1967 camaro SBC. What say you?

Thanks,

I have had the front springs in my camaro for over 10 years. They are Moroso's They probably need to be changed now. I will go with the Santhuff springs when I change them. The car is sitting a little lower on the passenger side . Lots of miles in the trailer probably caused it. The car is still working as good as always. I cant see any need to change springs unless there is a problem with them.

The Moogs I have used were good for years, no sag. The Morosos I used sagged considerably over the years.

Like anything else, I think there are several things that affect the life of the coil spring. Car weight, spring rate and diameter, length of suspension travel, wheelies, etc. I've had to replace mine about every five years or so, but that's on a nose-heavy Olds 4-4-2. I know the lower the nose is, the better the car works. But, of course a little goes a long ways and it's no good to have the worry of tearing your headers up either. My .02.

An air pillow under the front cross member when traveling will ad years to your front suspension. It's the trailer rides that kill it, not the racing.

Thanks guys, looks like the early votes are in, and it's unanimous... I see no reason why I would have to replace my front coil srings anytime soon...
