Goose Neck trailer hitch "extender"
Originally the left rear cab edge of my 2500 HD GMC and the left front edge of my living quarters trailer had about 2" of interference. That is no longer the case because the cab/trailer interference area has gradually self clearanced:( {The truck cab is bent, no damage to the trailer.]
It sneaks up on me, only touches under unusually tight turn when the ground is not level. So, before I knock a hole in the cab and break the back glass, it is time to make an adjustment. The truck is equipped with a turn over ball hitch and installed per the manufacturers instructions. It is a 2006 GMC HD Duramax, crew cab, short bed. The hitch ball needs to move rearward about 2" or some kind of extender for the trailer. [This is a goose neck hitch system] Does someone have a solution? |
Re: Goose Neck trailer hitch "extender"
They make a 12" and a 16" extender - we had a 2007 dodge maxicab and short bed and when we picked up the trailer the dealer (Millenium) said - you need this extender or you will hit on tight turns. Any of the trailer dealers should have/or can get the extenders.

larry--generally speaking they are going to give you either 9 or 16 inches of extension ---ya need to go look at a website for instance this one for some pix ------------mrtruck.net---they show several different models so ya can see what they are talking about---an extender is gonna run ya about $250-$1000 depending on what ya get( 5th wheel/gooseneck) whose it is and how much weight your gonna be hauling---they definately do work just hafta get the right setup for your situation--comp
by the way that one Adger is talking about only moves the trailer back FOUR inches hardly worth the bother |
