12 bolt pickup?
Do you guys have any ideas, suggestions or pictures of what bracket you built on your 12 bolt to hold the rpm pick up for a data logger? I would appreciate any pictures. This is going on a early model camaro. Thanks.

Re: 12 bolt pickup?
Talk with the data logger mfg. I was told that someone makes a yoke that will work. The mfg. should be able to advise you.

Re: 12 bolt pickup?
That is what I have researched is the ring with the magnets can go on a certain M/W pinion yoke. But, I still have to mount the pick up on the housing some way. There is where I need some suggestions/help.
Thanks Robert |
Re: 12 bolt pickup?
On a early camaro the easiest and most economical way is to put the magnet ring on the slip yoke just behind the trans. You can then mount the transducer on a bracket made of flat steel from the trans mount. There is no problem with movement of slip yoke.

Re: 12 bolt pickup?
We just drilled the companion flange in 2 spots 180 degrees apart .250 diameter by the length of the magnet, epoxied them in place and fabricated a pickup mount out of angle iron that was drilled in 2 places and bolted to a rib on the housing..............
When we did our data logger (10 years ago) we couldn't use the commercially available magnet rings because of the distance between the rear of the companion flange and the face of the seal was too narrow..... It is out of the way and has worked fine for 10 years............. |

Re: 12 bolt pickup?
you can fab bracket that attaches to ribs on housing that run below fill plug to hold pickup
M/W ring on pinion yoke for magnets works great . Mike Taylor 3601 |
Re: 12 bolt pickup?
Thank You Mike, that seems to be the simple way to do it. Bob suggested the same thing. Did you have to brace the angle piece of metal used to hold the pick up? Just curious.
Thanks |
Re: 12 bolt pickup?
used thin angle ,and never have took time to get working play back tach w/driveshaft rpm, always seems like I just get enough done to make it to a race or two a year and that seems to always involve a all nighter.
