Is H/SA a bad place to be???
I am looking at trading for a 85 camaro 305 that currently runs H/SA.. I think the car as it sits runs .5 under.. I did a little looking and there are always 2-3 h/sa at most races.. and usually the same and I/SA... Are these classes a bad place to be?

Re: Is H/SA a bad place to be???
It doesn't matter what class you're in, there's always going to be somebody faster. I don't think there's too many places to "hide" if you've got a car that won't run as far under the index. Heads-up runs are going to happen once in a while. I got "spanked" pretty hard a few times when I started out years ago. If you get beat, use it as motivation to make your car faster. Some guys may have alot of dough to spend, while there are others that are pretty smart mechanically. If they've got the smarts and the dough, then you can bet that those are the type of racers that are going to be fast. Then again, they could just have a bogus factor like some of the new cars. My .02.

Re: Is H/SA a bad place to be???
It is a very popular class. But, there are allot of cars that run F - J in all the divisions. Here in Florida there are at least 4 H/SA including me. They are all bad fast (me excluded) and very, very good drivers. It is what makes it fun. I want to get better and as the funds allow I will. The 305 car is a very good combo.

I like being in H/SA. I get a few heads up runs and it tests my driving skills, especially after driving FWD cars for so many years with very few heads up races. Jim

H/SA is relatively free of crazy under factored cars but lots of hard working super fast action. Bill Edgeworth can eat us for lunch with a bag of chips as can a few others. We're middle of the pack running 11.6's.

You don't need to be the fastest dog in the pack to be competetive. I can remember a guy in division 3 stock eliminator that couldn't or barely made the class index and did a lot of butt kicking that year. Racing with the big dogs will make you a better racer.
