440 crank forged or cast
I just came across a '75 440 with 29K miles. Can I use the cast crank in a Stocker motor that will be run with '69 motor specs? Will it hold up? Thanks

Re: 440 crank forged or cast
Forged would be be better but they weigh the same and either should be fine under normal conditions. About 10 years ago I weighed a 440 cast, 440 steel, 400 cast, 383 steel and all were 76 lb on my scale, I was quite surprised.

Re: 440 crank forged or cast
Depends upon how hard you are going to turn the motor. If over 6,500 rpm I would use a forged unit. The cast crank is definetly a weight advantage.
