Kaylee Update from Donna Morris

This is from Donna Morris on 5/10/07

I went to see Kaylee last Friday and what a difference 2 weeks have made. When I seen her the last time her eyes seemed kind of cloudy and drowsy. Now they are fully open and the whites of her eyes are completely clear. Cindy said she sometimes responds to her or Chad if they ask her to move. She said she gets pretty ticked off at the physical therapists when they work on her. She said she gets red faced, grits her teeth and when they try to move her arms or legs she stiffens out trying to make them quit. She said it was just her being Kaylee and not wanting to be messed with. I saw her move both arms, hands and legs. I spoke to her and said her Mom had painted her toenails and she looked down as if maybe trying to see them. They did surgery on her Tuesday to place a shunt in her head and remove a temporary drain. This will just be to relieve any pressure if fluid trys to build up again on her brain. They want to move her to rehab as soon as she has healed enough from the surgery. She still has the trach tube so she can't make sounds. Speech Therapists are coming in now using something to see if she can make sounds.
They had a benefit race in Chandler IN last Saturday and they raised $5300.00.

I just would like to renew the appreciation felt from all the thoughts, prayers, and the donations, all of them large and small. It's the thought that counts. Kaylee doesn't know yet how thoughtful people have been and can be. We are waiting for the day we can tell her and she understands it all. She makes a bad day not seem so bad. It is very humbling to think of how we get frustrated over some of the slightest things, then to stop and think how far she has come and how far she has to go. The slightest things really become just that, nothing. Hug your Mom Sunday, hug your Dad Sunday, Hug your wife or husband Sunday, and especially Hug Your Kids Everyday!!!! Live each day like there is no tomorrow you will not regret it.
Thanks again to all that made the benefit a great success and thanks to everyone that is still asking about Kaylee, praying for her, donating to her and who care about her and her recovery. She is one special little girl, look what she has brought out in all of us.

Never look down on anyone, that's only possible in Heaven to watch over someone, and from what I hear if you think you are superior on Earth the Gates of Heaven will humble you.
