2012 NHRA Class Quota's

I noticed that the NHRA posted Class quota's for the 2012 Season events. Can anyone shed any light on how these quota's are figured? There are only 64 entries for Stock (no class run-offs) at the SuperNationals at Englishtown while there is 90 for Super Stock. At the Gatornationals, it's 80 in Stock but only 55 in Super Stock where both eliminators have a class run-off. Is there some "formula" they use, or just how many competitors can fit on the property?

You know, that is a very good observation. Other than Indy, was there a full field anywhere else (maybe Pomona) last year. Maybe Vegas? NHRA could use an open entry for most races as they don't fill up. I will include that in my daily message to the SRAC and NHRA.

Maple Grove was full for Super Stock. Or at least was full before the event rained out. The following week not so full.

Lew, on the Gators SS numbers, there were 50 entries in 2010 when they didn't get on the track till Sunday and only 40 last year even though the weather was great. But even with that there were several rigs that had to deal with mud. So history plays a role but what a track can accommodate is definitely a consideration.

Jim,

That's what I was thinking. The only Eliminators that get to run at all the races are TF/FC/PS, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Stock and Stock. Everyone else has an abbreviated schedule. They've shuffled around where the class runoffs will take place, but I was trying to make some sense of the method they used for the quota allocations. If the facilities can't physically hold more competitors, then I can understand the low numbers. I was just surprised at the very small number for Stock at E-town, with no class competition. It should be interesting to see how quickly the list fills up!

Maybe the take into account curfew times too? Surprised they still take all those cars for Englishtown considering the banker hours during which we get to race. It always amused me the planes taking off next door and flying overhead at 8am but we can't start motors til 10!

Remember too that last year they adjusted quotas on 2 or 3 races when the entries lagged on some classes and others were filled fairly early. A few more enhancements and they will kill off their cash cows so hopefully they realize that (finally).

Jim, Jim, Jim. You give Glendora WAY too much credit for being in touch with the unwashed (dwindling) masses! I would think they would get input front the DD's at the street level but I know they don't. Jim

You're right of course; silly me. Pomona just opened up yesterday and they already have 10 S/C and 2 S/G entered. Come on though, Jim...you must admit that Gators with class contested is tempting now isn't it?

Div 7 is a Super Comp and Super Gas region. Super Comp will meet quota before Christmas. At the same time Stock will be less than 15. There are more Super Comps in 7 than Stock and Super Stock combined. The 110 quota for Super Comp at Gainesville will probably be reduced.
