Pontiac Stocker

Are there any Pontiac gear heads out there, it's a shame what happened to this 1969 Pontiac Trans Am...so the question is would it make a good stocker.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this guy inviting a visit from law enforcement to explain the comment about the vin # and title going for use on another car?

A friend of mine bought an identical car in Missouri just south of St. Louis. I've never seen another automatic.

The Missouri DOT has always had a love affair with salt - after a snowfall melts and dries up there's a thick white dust that hangs around until the next heavy rain.

And about this time they liked calcium chloride even more, which likes to get into body seams and stay forever.

I wouldn't doubt that this is the same car considering it's only a few hundred miles away and a whole bunch of the original musclecars around here ended up in the same condition before I lost track of them. If the car was a daily driver (and most were) they took the full impact of the chemical assault.

Others I remember for sale that I passed on because they were in roughly the same shape as the Firebird: 69 Z28 with four wheel disks (don't know if they were dealer installed or factory), 70 Chevelle LS5, 70 Chevelle SS454 LS6 El Camino, 70 Duster 340 4 spd, and Charger 500 with 440. Note that none of these were junkyard hulks, as they were all being driven at the time.

Makes you sick, doesn't it? I'm sure others in states that use a lot of chemicals have much the same story.

There's a nice looking crankshaft in the deal.

I feel bad for the guy that has what he believes to be a really rare Trans Am, but actually has a Firebird with the ID from this car!

One question for the Pontiac experts:

The seller lists a bunch of TransAm-only parts included in the deal. Most of them are self explanatory but what is different about the rear glass and the doors?

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days and don't remember anything different.

I'm not an expert but I don't think there is much of a difference in those parts from any other 69 Firebird...also another point, they make all the reproduction sheet metal for these cars don't they...oh well, one more day to go, so will it sell or not.

From looking at the parts, the deck lid would at least have holes for the spoiler, and the front fenders have cutouts for the vents. I can't think of any difference in the doors or backlight so that's why I asked.

I just checked the ad and see it got bid to 4051 but didn't meet reserve. I'd think that was a very strong price for what was actually there. I wondered how the seller knew the car was a RAIV but see he backed off that claim before the auction ended.
