Comp has been really good to me as long as they have existed.

Re: Camshaft brands
Competition Cams. A successful Super Stock racer who also is a good engine builder actually runs the department where you get custom cams for Stock and Super Stock. Tim Cole runs that department, he's as knowledgeable and helpful as anyone you're likely to find on the other end of a phone line when you're calling about camshafts and valvetrain. Chris Padgitt is in that department, and is also an excellent source for your camshaft and valvetrain needs.
When you call Comp and speak to Tim and his guys, you don't just get a guy who sells you a camshaft. You get a guy who puts together a valvetrain package that works, not to mention good advice on gearing, converters, and headers. They not only know what works, but why it works and how to make it all work together, to make you faster. |
Re: Camshaft brands
I agree with Alan on this, Tim Cole has helped me alot with advice from what lifter to use to cams to the proper lifter to bore clearence and anything else, worth a call in my opinion. Joe

Re: Camshaft brands
Wonder why Erson, Crane, or any others seem uninterested in what we do? Crane used to be big in SS, but dont hear much anymore.....
Not a bash, just curious.... Wade O |

They are just getting back on their feet again financially. I speak with Chase Knight weekly and he informs me that we will all be hearing much more noise from them very soon. Isky too is actively invloved in S/SS only very quieltly for some reason. Erson was bought out by PBM which is a parts distribution chain that focuses primarily on roundy round shops and production engine rebuilding shops. They cut the line WAY back and is very small block chebbie heavy. The good news about Erson is that they are still the best kept secret for Nex Tek valve springs. That is the only reason we remain a WD for them. Substatial savings over Manley for the same spring. |
Re: Camshaft brands
