How long has NHRA had driver at 170lbs
I looked up average weight for males and females on google. Men were 196lbs and women 168. How long has the 170 been the norm? I wish I was 196 right now. Ed

If I remember correctly, they first started factoring in driver weight around '78. It has always been 170 lbs. I haven't seen 170 lbs. probably since about the same time period.

I beleive the 170 came from the FAA weight per passenger in aircraft calculations - same as the FAA Physical for classes requiring licenses.
