bump steer alignment
Anyone know a place that can properly bump steer align a first gen Camaro in the Southern California area?
Many thanks, John |
Re: bump steer alignment
John,
You will need to seek a shop that will take the time and effort to resolve bumpsteer issues. In most cases, it is necessary to move the steering box (and idler arm) mounting positions OR the tie rod end attachments on the steering arms in order to aleviate bumpsteer. Many alignment shops just aren't interested in putting a lot of time and effort into correcting bumpsteer, at least that has been my experience. Might be just as easy and effective to work on the bumpsteer issue yourself. I would recommend Dave Morgan's "Doorslammers" book as a good starting point for this project. |
Re: bump steer alignment
You will want to find a circle track guy that know your type of car, they do this stuff all the time.

Re: bump steer alignment
Thanks for the responses.
If I do it myself, does anyone have suggestions on gauges that measure castor, camber and bump steer? I searched the web and there seems to be a few options, so any suggestions that would help me decide what I need to purchase would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again |
