Index auto trans bell-housing

INDEX AUTO TRANS BELL-HOUSING
So the center line of the crank and the T/Q align perfectly.
Anyone here ever try to do it or can it be done??
Would it be worth it?

Yeah, Been there, done that but, didn't see a thing. I was really trying to fix a trans leak I thought was related to not being centered. Turned out to be a hair line crack in converter.

Did do it as a matter of procedure but unless the trans case was involved in a catastrophe explosion I never found one that was out of centerline by more than .009" and that was usually at the back of a line bored block. In a vehicle that keeps cracking converter necks I might suspect that as a cause but I usually found the actual welding process or a ballooned converter was the culprit for that. (Besides, that's why they call it a flex plate) It's probably not a horrible procedure to include in the build process but in reality it probably is an extra 15 minutes that isn't show any problem. 10 to15 minutes to eliminate/discover a potential problem? Your call as to include it or not but in my opinion it's one less unknown in the initial build if done.

I know you asked about an auto bellhousing but I was watching something the other day and they centered a manual bellhousing. They said it was worth up to 5hp and 5 footlbs of torque.
