Engine Shippers

I recall discussions in the past about good ways to ship an engine across the US. The ones who offer a crate I can drop an engine in and it will be picked up at my location........any help?.....These would be short blocks only.

Thanks in advance.

It will much cheaper terminal to terminal if that matters. I have used ForwardAir with satisfaction many times in the past for engines, short blocks and blocks.

I've used this site for shipping.

http://freightcenter.com/

You have to set up an account but then you can chose the best freight line to use based on price and where it's located. I've always done a terminal to terminal to save the money like Mr. Southerland said, but going to a business address has no extra delivery fee charged.

Terminal to Terminal is the best way, and see if they have a Loading, unloading ramp, sure helps if your picking up in a pickup truck!

I always used Delta Air Freight but you'd have to check their rates. I'm sure they've gone up.

We have used Freightquote.com @ 1-800-323-5441and Unishippers @ 719-502-1366. Both have handled our engine shipments with the best rates and good service. No complaints from either one. Just FYI- The need for a liftgate drives the price up quite a bit. You will have to put the engine in a box or on a stand and then attach it to a skid prior to them picking it up. I am not aware of anyone who offers the specific service that you are requesting. I'm not saying that type of service isn't available. I'm just saying I haven't heard of it being offered.

100% on unishippers. You can also ask for extra insurance for $50 that will cover up to $10,000 if it's lost. Don't know about damaged though...

I have not used it for racing stuff, but used Unishippers 100's of times times for work.

Re: Engine Shippers

Thanks all.......I believe there is a company that has a "container" (heavy duty plastic or?)where you drop an engine in it.........and ship. I sure could be wrong on this........just trying to avoid building a crate and all that jazz. I'll call RWR out here and see if they can add to the discussion.......thanks again all.
