front coils lengths
I'm rebuilding my front end on 1968 camaro and I'm about to cut moroso coils I have read a lot about having driver side 1/4 longer coil to off set driver weight is this the right thing to do?

Re: front coils lengths
No. Cut them equal. I have the lightest weight coil in my 68 sbc. I cannot remember how much we cut. It would not go in until we cut some off.
SAME LENGTH. My camaro is 3280 with me in it and I weigh 200. Car sits perfectly square. if it doesnt sit square then your leaf springs are worn out. Clark |
Re: front coils lengths
First off what he said, or your car can be twisted to, in then you will need to make more measurements like lower front control arm to frame by bumpers to look for sag, same w rear leafs.Measure all 4 corners of car before starting. Cut 1/2 coil at a time. do not fully tighten ball joints, and bounce it and let it settle a few days, unless its a mile in the air, then cut 1/2 coil off. they drop fast. sit in it then and take measurements w a helper there.
good luck, not much fun in spring work but patience pays off in end. |
