Stocker weight location.....does it matter ???

Re: Car needs to add 100 pounds.......weight bar at the bumper or in the box over the rear axle.......does one of these locations have any advantage over the other ???? This will be the only added weight to the vehicle.

Depends on the car......... You need as much in the back for good wt transfer......... then as much in front of the rear axle as you can......

Rusty, you'll have to experiment to see what the car wants. It does matter, you can see it in the 60' times, with most cars.

Any more weight behind the axle than you need to get the car hooked will slow it down because you have to adjust to compensate.

Once you find where the weight works best you use the weight box to adjust for the different scales to carry the minimum. Some times the car won't like the minimum. Trial and error, test and tune, pete and repete.

Like Alan said...and it pays to experiment. I even tried a bunch of weight mounted below the rear bumper frame support. That was a mistake but now I know. I've had weight at the back of the trunk area, the area above the axle housing, and in the area where there would be a rear seat (my AMX is a factory two seat car). So far I've never tried weight on the passenger side front floor or forward of the cowl.
I use lead shot filled bars as I like to displace the load more than weight box. If you do the same, start at the back of the trunk and then try 50#'s at the back and 50#'s above the axle area. Or try all 100#'s above the axle.
It's all part of the test-n-tune procedure.

I like to carry weight right over the axel, as high as possible.
