Well folks there is life after racing. And it's pretty good.Since I sold everything I've takenup collecting bolt actin military rifles.Having a great time, though my range time is limited due to driving a flatbed car carrier and being on call.I'm going to start reloading soon to cut down on the rising cost of ammo.(Sound amiliar,as in fuel costs and entry fees?).
I also have purchased a cruise car.I had an eye on a nice '54 Plymouth belvedere two door in yellow/white.The problem was it was in Texas.
My wife suggested buying a mustang, since we has a '66 coupe 289/2bbl/three speed on flor w/factory air, when we were first married. This year is 40 years of her enduring my company so I found a 65 coupe. It's a 20 footer now but the work will start on it after the summer is over.
Here she be.

Nice car. I have a complete correct numbers matching 65 289 factory hydraulic cammed 4 barrel engine from a mustang. completely professionally rebuilt and sitting on a stand 10 years, if you get the itch for a V8, as Iknow I can never leave anything alone. Cheap and local.
regardless enjoy the car and bring it to the points meets and cruise the pits.

Re: Lar

My son-in-law has one. Not sure what year but it is a very early one. A 260 V8 2 barrel carb with a floor shifted manual trans. I think it was a 4 speed. It has been sitting for years and needs a ton of work.

My son and I spent some time working on it to get it started since it had not run in years. I put a starter in it and free'd up the crab as it was rusted solid.

Checked the ignition and added some gas and it started right up and ran perfect.

Gas tank was rusted out and leaked as soon as we added gas....

Ignition switch came apart after turning it on and off a few times...

Interior was real bad...

Lots of rust underneath and a lot of Bondo on the body,,,,

My son-in-law is a Veterinarian and no time for working on it.

It would take a lot of time, money and work to restore it and it was a real basic no option car.....I told him there is no way it would be worth it.....

A Mustang is really just a Falcon with a different body and it was an idea that worked and sold a lot of cars. Lee Iacocca was the man behind it if I recall right....

Ed your gas tank is your trunk floor.......and in a rear collison if the tank ruptures fuel it goes directly in the back seat....and that is not good....

They didn't care much about safety back then......
