MS 1110H bearings ?
please tell me more about these bearings. are these real bearings or just spacers. $206 seems like a lot for a set of mains. however, to be able to use a 4 bolt block......
is it possible to use a set of stock 350 main bearings [in a 350 block], have them honed and then use the small journal main bearing on them? thoughts or ideas thanks rod in AZ |
Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
Rod, the MS1110H bearings are the special double thick one-piece bearing that you can bolt directly into your 4-bolt block with a small journal crank.

By the time you go through all of that, you will have spent a lot more than just buying the $200 set of bearings, plus I have never liked the idea of bearing spacers or stacking them like you are thinking of doing. I know guys did it for ages on the 400 blocks with a 350 crank, but why take the chance of having two things in each postition that can move around ?? Just my opinion, |
Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
Shop around, especially in Ebay.

Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
i looked at the pictures on e-bay. there are 12 pieces there. what are the copper shells for? they look like inserts for the rear main. right or wrong?
thanks for all the replies rod in AZ |
Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
Rod,
Yes, the rear main uses a spacer on the MS1110-H. Jerry |
Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
My experience issome of them are fully grooved depending on if you get "newer stock or older stock"---they only come in 3 sizes so if ya cut the crank more than .010 ya cant use em ----and yes the rear main uses a spacer---very expensive about $170-200 depending on who ya get em from----FED387

Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
I just got my clevite mains---is there any instruction on the rear main spacer--like loctite or? i would like your expertise please--thanks--spacers make me nervous

Re: MS 1110H bearings ?
Never use Loctite on a bearing, it inhibits heat transfer, and slightly alters the fit.
