Who makes the best Std size BBC lifters?

Can anyone give me some input on which roller lifters we should try in our 468 BBC? The ones we are currently running we have seen some break down in the needle bearings. Thanks in advance

I use Comp Endure-X.

But you really need to step up to the 0.904" lifter.

Most lifter problems are related to oil, and valvetrain control.

Comps measure .841 which is to small for a stock liftter bore as GM lifter bores run .844 and .003 is to much clearance. Comps should be measured for taper and roundness as i have seen issies in that area.

Most old BBC's have some wear in the lifter bores and should go to .904 and clearance should be .0014 to .0019

I see more Morels Roller lifters go through our shops.

The only roller lifter I'll use in my engines is Crower's Servere Duty w/HIPPO.

.842 diameter lifter and last 2 sets in my 468 were pulled from service after 1000 passes each seeing 7200 RPM every pass just because and they looked and felt like they could go another 1000 passes.

Run the same lifter in my 522 and the last set was pulled after 500 passes seeing 8000 RPM every pass and they too looked and felt like they just came out of the box.

Carl, you're correct on the lifter clearance with Comp 819 lifters......Usually .003"+ clearance on a stock block.
The Comp 819's are really good for the money ,but I'd definately have the bores trued oversize for either .874" or .904"
I recently changed a set of Morells and found the circlip groove was chipping away on several lifters. ....First time I've seen it happen on them.
I have a set of Comp Elite lifters for a Comp engine I'm doing, very nice pieces with extreemly large axles that are double pinned in place.

Here is a link on Crower lifters. So far I have not seen a set of .904 Crower lifters I would use.

My comments are about their .842 lifter not their .904 which I have no first hand experience with having never used them and have no plans to use them anytime soon.

And guys wonder why they have lifter issues as most guys dump roller lifters in the bores with out checking the bore clearance and wonder why they looked scuffed or why they break.

Jesel lifters by far are the best out there. I like the DLC coating and push rod oiling is better. Though they run small but like I have said lifters have to be measured and fit to the bores, 90% of my builds I use a the .904 lifters. Bigger body, bigger wheel and axel and is much stronger then any .842 lifter out there.

Isky EZ Roll lifters. No needle bearings, no needle bearings to get into the engine.
3 years at 950 HP and zero issues.
