Thanks DRC for the Jims' article (Evanuiks & Varacalli)
 

Thanks to Drag Race Central and Bob Frey for recognizing Jim Evanuik and Jim Varacalli in their "From the Tower" from July 12. A great story on 2 of my drag racing mentors and all around great people from Pittsburgh. I enjoy reading all of the DRC columns especially the ones about stock / super stock. The ones about Pittsburgh racers make me want to stick my chest out a little though. Growing up around all the legends of stock and super stock in the Pittsburgh area and seeing all of them still very competitive after 40+ years of racing is the inspiration for me to keep going. This article is great for national publication, but the real stories are told after a couple of beers at the P.I.D. reunion.
Jim always said Ford stood for First On Race Day and Kunsak always said backwards it stood for Driver Returns On Foot. Kidding... Congrats and see you soon!

great article on jim. i remember when jim would race at bristol in the old ihra days. nice guy. i bet he a'int too happy right now though. they just factored his 351 boss from 330 hp to 355 hp!!!!! of course thats always been the 351c's history. if it goes too fast nhra pulls out the pencil! just ask bob glidden!!!!!!

Ted, where did you see they factored him 25 hp? Wasn't announced in the recent mid-summer adjustments?

:confused:mike i read the the factor wrong. my mistake. ford rates the engine at 330hp nhra rates it at 355. sorry.
