What EFI system does everyone run??

Re: Efi
Stock pcm for me. I'm probably the only one with this setup. Fast and Bigstuff are very popular.Depending on what you are doing, there is really no advantage to the aftermarket ones. They are just easier to work with and tune.

The factory boxes are just as easy as the after market stuff.

Re: Efi
I can't imanine that you can get the same kind of fuel and spark control and logging and data out on a stock ecu that you can get our of something llike the FAST system.
But if $ is an issue, run stock until you decide you need more control or more data out. Then when you need more than your stock setup gives you, look around at what the faster cars in your class are running, and go for that. My Opinion. I never ran a stock ECU in Class, Your mileage may vary. David The New Hemi Guy |

Oh, but you can.

Re: Efi
I use the SDS (Simple Digital Systems) for my EFI. It really is simple. It is on the NHRA approved list. It is used also for light aircraft due to it's reliability. I know of a guy that tried to use the stock ECU and had major issues with head gaskets popping. You can do it with a stock ECU, but I think it is much easier to tune with the aftermarket ECU's.

Re: Efi
I think it all boils down to how up to date your ECM/Program is and how talented you are at tuning. Most of the major players such as Big Stuff, Fast, Holley, etc. are close to plug and play with minimal tuning by the end user. On GM's EFI Live and HP Tuners can tune the stock ECM as well but require much more knowledge and tuning experience. Systems like Megasquirt and others are also quite capable but require much more tuning knowledge and setup than FAST, Big Stuff, etc. Just make sure and purchase the newest version you can get, just like computers aftermarket ECM's get outdated pretty quick
(still useable but the newer stuff is almost always better). JMT. |

Do you use the SDS EM-4 on your Turbo Coupe ? I see it's plugs into the factory harness. Or did you go with a custom setup ? http://www.wmsracing.com/new_wms/wms_efi.php BTW: How good is the tech support at SDS ? |

Re: Efi
I use Vi-Pec. It's got a built in datalogger (up to 10 runs). All the bells and whistles of the top brands. At half the price. Plus you don't need to buy all the special sensors, for the most part you can use what you have.
