Always loved that car. I know I'm not just real bright, been trying to figure this out on my own, but what do you mean "wire car"?

http://www.allpar.com/racing/missile/wire-car.html Don's rides were always ahead of their time, I attended the 1970 Gators and on the way into town I stopped at a little 2 stall garage/gas station (back then was there any other kind?) and inside sat the original Duster Mopar Missle. They had most of the panels out of it and even then they had wires running to hubs and everywhere else you can think of. Will never forget it, at 5:00 AM they were thrashing away. Very cool... |

Re: 75 Mopar Missle Wire Car
The "wire car" Duster was restored last year at a local shop here in Orange
County, The 401K Hot Rod Shop in Anaheim. I got to see it in it's early stages of restoration. It got it's name from the wire cables X'ing across the back of the body to add stiffness to the chassis/body. |

Re: 75 Mopar Missle Wire Car
Mopar Action did a rather extensive article on the car in their August 1995 issue. According to the article, a person named Jeff Johnson out of Colombus, Ohio owned the car at the time and was restoring it then. Photos show it to have been pretty complete and in good shape, I guess after his restoration efforts, but still needing some "correct" pieces.
The title of the article was "Chrysler's missing link Pro-Stocker. The 1,880 lb curb weight always amazed me. Who owns it now? In CA? |
Re: 75 Mopar Missle Wire Car
Myron, the titanium parts are not on the car. On the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame Reunion website is a news release writen by the original builder. I have several photographs from the days the cars were originally built.
