Re: COPO Camaro
I would bet the COPO cars will be above MSRP for a while since it's the first year.
There were 9 of the 2013 Mustangs race cars on ebay at one time last week. Several were no reserve with an opening price of $96K. So for $96K you can get one and be racing the next day. As far as I know, none of them sold. The same thing happened to the 2012 models. They were for sale forever and some sold for $5K to $10K under MSRP. I would bet the COPOs will come down in price after the thrill wears off. Especially if they have a second run for next year. |
Re: COPO Camaro
You can't buy a COPO. They are all sold. They are building 69 of them, and you had to show your intent to purchase, and them GM picked the owners. Basically you had to have the money up front. You will not see any COPO's sitting in showrooms with a dealer markup, like you do with the other brands. That is exactly how GM wants it. They want them out on the racetrack right now. Possibly the 2013 COPO program will be different. Right now a local dealer has a new Cobra Jet for sale. They won't even say the price. I asked online, and they told me to call. Lame. They want to know how deep my pockets are and how desperate I am for one. Not the way to market a drag race vehicle if you ask me.
EDIT-- all of the COPO's were sold at MSRP for around $89k+ with a few options. |
Re: COPO Camaro
Chevrolet-"Total confidence pricing". Too good to be true?

Re: COPO Camaro
I'd wager a few dollars that some of the first years Copo cars will show up on ebay or racing junk. Dodge said the same thing about the drag paks, no sales to the gabones, but belive me they ended up for sale.

Re: COPO Camaro
For me, I have created a registry of the 2012 COPOs (by no means "official)--and my current list has 11 accounted for;assuming the info I have gathered from various sources are correct! If anyone has current knowledge about a documented car, please email me: raceannouncer@gmail.com . The sames goes for any 2013 model as well, since I don't have ANY of those!

Re: COPO Camaro
You can buy a CJ for several thousand off, just let it sit on the dealers floor plan for a while. They won't turn down a reasonable offer. Fritz Hammerson at Jackie Jones Ford was easy deal with and a great guy. Much more buzz with the Copo but they can be purchased. I just purchased #24 from Kendall Chevrolet. Mr. Hill was absolutely fantastic! Looking forward to racing them in Houston in a couple of weeks! S.Bell
