2013 Thunder in the Mountains Stk/SS Event @ Numidia
 

Morning,

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up for the 2013 racing season and the Thunder in the Mountains Stk/SS Shootout. This race will be taking over for the Combo in the Hills event that was run by Lee & Brian that past 2 years. It will once again be held at Numidia Dragway in Numidia, Pa along with the Ronnie "Uncle Buck" Memorial 90 Nationals. At this time I currently do not have a date set in stone as I'm awaiting the NHRA D-1 Schedule to be released but, I will attempt not to have it after 2 or 3 weekends of racing in a row (If possible). I know on the off weekends of NHRA / IHRA Racing we have ECSSA, ASRA, Cam-Am and I'm hearing that Maple Grove will be bringing back the Stk/SS Series again (just a rumor as of now) and I will do my best not to interfere with their schedules.

After talking to a decent amount of Stk/SS Racers over the past few weeks I decided to bring back the pre-entry option for 2013 so if you want to get ahead of the game and get locked in you are more then welcomed. As far as the racing goes we will have a few different options for 2013. On Friday Night we will go back to something I thought was very popular in the 1st year and we will have a Stock / Super Stock Combo race that will be open to all racers. I'm also throwing around the option of the CIC Race like last year but, their seemed to be a lot of mixed feeling about that event and not a very good turnout. The other option I'm also kicking around is a American Muscle Car Shooutout for all the newer Copo's, Mustangs, Etc. I think this would be a great thing for the crowd that shows up at Numidia on a Friday Evening as they will be able to see high-flying factory cars that they can actually buy but, we will see as we get closer and I talk with Bob more.

On Saturday I've also decided to do away with the Combo race (Friday Night will be the Combo event) and make this a Stock vs. Stock and Super Stock vs. Super Stock event. So that means everyone will run separate for the whole entire event up until we crown the champion of both Stock & Super Stock. Once we crown them we will have a "King of the Mountain" run-off between the Stock winner & Super Stk winner. I think that puts a good twist on already a great event. Then of course we will have the Free BBQ following the event for all to enjoy.

We are still working out the details but, I am proud to announce that Edelbrock has come on board as a sponsor for the 2013 Thunder in the Mountains Event! Thanks to Troy Hooker and the Sales crew at Edelbrock.

I'm down to 3 or 4 possible dates but, waiting to see where D-1 puts the Leb Valley Divisional as the Epping National Event took over it's current date.

I will have more info shortly regarding pre-entry amounts and cut-off dates once everything is set in stone. Hope to see a lot of interest in this event for 2013!

Went last year and had a blast and was treated great. Awesome atmosphere. Great food at Numidia and the best track to watch top end racing. Can't wait to head back this year. Make a point to put this one on your calendar so we can keep these kinds of races going.

Glad to hear everything is moving along.
Racing at Numidia since the DiMino family bought it has made racing at it one of the best tracks and fun places we go.

Just in case anyone is interested in becoming a sponsor for the 2013 event we have a few different options available.

Primary Sponsorship - Become either a sponsor of the Thunder in the Mountains event or the Stk / SS Combo event on Friday Night.

Associate Sponsorship - A minor & more budget friendly version of the Primary Sponsorship

Round Sponsorship - You can offer up products or certificates each round to the racers "Best Reaction time in the 3rd round", 1st driver to go right on their index in the 2nd round...etc)

Raffle Sponsorship - We will be bringing back the pre-entry portion this year for racers and along with that companies that want to offer up certificates for those drivers who enter early. So on Friday Evening we will will once again have the raffle for all drivers who pre-enter early.
