Pizza Man Corvette at auction

I was at a buddy's place Friday evening, and there was a Mecum auction from St. Charles, IL on....much to my surprise, there was the Pizza Man 'vette! They were pimping it as the grand finale on Sat. or Sun. so I didn't get to see it go across the stage, but apparently it went to $120k and didn't sell.
Jim S., were you there?

I remember seeing that car run a lot. Seems like his name was Earl? Can't come up with his last name. :-( I'm old. Good running little car.

The guys name is Earl Britts fr. Sioux Falls SD. Remember the car from Marion SD. There's a thread under the nostalgia section on the car. gsa612

Are you the guy that raced a 1948 4 door hudson? I believe you owned a bee farm and had some dakota buffalo roaming the range?

Blazer,

Jim done good with the bees and the buffalo 'til them damn rustlers came along. It was relatively easy to brand the buffalo, but he never got the hang of brandin' the bees so he moved to Texas. He'd like to move back to SoDak, but his wife bees wantin' to stay where its warm.

Didn't Earl get his supply of 292's from the buses that used to run in Sioux Falls? Lots of years and lots of memories of watching that car run.

I knew Earl back then, he gave me a lot of pointers about running at national events. I believe that he ran the GMC 270 truck engine, bored to 4 ", which made 301 ci. That engine came in trucks, and buses with the 4 speed, GM hydro-matic. That is the trans, that was developed into the famous B&M stick, hydro, and was used by a lot of famous gassers, back in the day.

Eddie, I figured you would remember this car, being from your part of the country.
