GLobal West Kit...
Im gonna order a Global West Del-Alum kit for my Bird... Are the balljoints that come with their kit of the low friction variety? I know Afco makes them...but, was hoping to get it all in one purchase. There is no real cheap way to do it... Opinions? Thanks, Brent and Merry Christmas!!

Re: GLobal West Kit...
Since the '60s many old Jr Stocker racers have simply used stock bushings, cut the teeth from the in-board end of the inner sleeve, and shortened longer bolts until when bottomed in the shaft the large washers had no slack, yet would still rotate when the bolt was bottomed. Good grease on the shaft before pressing the new bushings in. Raise the control arm, they fall right back down. Don't need any easier movement than than that. Much cheaper and just as fast.

Re: GLobal West Kit...
I have been checking these out for my own project and I have a performance shop and we are able to buy from warehouses at a discount but I noticed we don't buy them much cheaper than what global west sells for on there site, so you might be better buying direct, my one advantage in buying through our warehouse is the shipping is way cheaper but I am located in Canada.
Hope that helps somewhat Merry Christmas RC |
Re: GLobal West Kit...
Ed, i did that on a Malibu wagon that i built... it worked great! I guess i just wanted to do this once ... Maybe a PST kit and some afco low friction balljoints would be the way to go... and of course, the front springs... I just want this thing to lift real well... was more curious if anyone is running GLobal West's balljoints, since i was thinking about buying their kit. I know its alot of money($499 right now), but i figured it would give me maximum movement, offset shafts for a better alignment, and i can grease them.
