Tires come of the bead when out of air???
I have a pair of wheels for a friends car here and when the tires loose air they come off the bead. The car is on the lift so not worried about damaging the tires or rims. I personally have never had this happen before. Both the tires and wheels are brand new. M/T 9x29.5 bias on an 8 inch wheel. Anyone else have this happen?

Doug,
our dragster front tires do that |
Re: Tires come of the bead when out of air???
Probably would not happen if shape of tire cold and uninflated werent narrower than rim width. It is the fresh strength of the rubber shape pulling them off I would say. I imagine if it were a 5 inch rim it would not have a pull inwards to overcome the width of the rim.

That will happen if the wheels don't have safety beads--bumps around the rim inboard of the tire bead surface to retain the bead.
